Genshin Impact is a free-to-play role-playing game developed by miHoYo. The game takes place in a fictional mythical world called Teyvat. In this dimension, certain individuals are granted a Vision by the gods; visions are magical gemstones that give its bearer the ability to control an element. You play as the Traveler, who visits other worlds with your powers. However, when you found Teyvat in the midst of chaos and sought to leave, you and your twin sibling were thwarted from leaving by a mysterious god. With your sibling taken away and your powers sealed, you awaken after a long time and finally set out to find them—discovering that much has changed in this world while you slept.
What kind of game is Genshin Impact?
Genshin Impact takes place in Teyvat, a world blessed by seven Elemental Archons. In the distant past, the Archons granted mortals unique elemental abilities, which allowed them to form a bountiful homeland out of the wilderness. However, the collapse of Teyvat has turned the universe upside down. The suffering has since ceased and the lands are slowly healing but peace has yet to be restored in Mondstadt, the city of wind.
You play as either the boy, Aether, or the girl, Lumine—twin siblings from another world who travel throughout the universe. After trying to leave Teyvat during its collapse and ending up losing your twin and your powers, you have awoken and found yourself stranded in this foreign land. You eventually meet a companion who then helps you in finding your sibling. The two of you will meet new characters along your journey—most of whom can join your party and allow you to use them in combat—and you will eventually become embroiled in another chaos emerging to disturb this world's order.
